Sci-Hub is a project created in 2011 with the goal to bring free and unpaywalled access to scientific literature. In a few years after launch, the website has grown to have millions of users worldwide. The project has been always funded by user donations, including crypto. Recently, the project got a meme coin, and launched a community extension, named Sci-Net, where people can share research publications and get meme coins as a reward.
