Kilroy was here
Kilroy was here is a meme that became popular during world war 2, it was considered a meme, possibly the FIRST meme used, before the term meme existed. The art could be found in barracks, on vehicles, weapons, toilets, walls and anywhere else soldiers would go during the war to let allies know they have fellow soldiers nearby or have claimed that area. They’d know this by seeing “Kilroy was here” written, chalked, scratched or whatever method used on something or the image of Kilroy. Kilroy was a symbol of strength, solidarity and bravery for all the servicemen that served in the war, a morale booster that could be seen all over the world. It’s even said that Adolf Hitler himself and some of his soldiers found the artwork in multiple places and began to ask who Kilroy was, they believed he was a spy. To this day Kilroy can still be found in the real world, on a monument in Washington, some american businesses use the image still to this day. The character himself was born in the trenches, an encourager of teamwork and working towards a common goal.
